Understanding Category Views
Why can category view counts be higher than listing view counts?
Because a single listing can belong to multiple categories. When that listing is viewed, each of its categories receives a view.
Example:
Imagine you have a listing called “The Green Cafe” assigned to three categories: Restaurants, Cafes, and Vegan. If that listing gets 100 views:
“The Green Cafe” listing shows 100 views
“Restaurants” category shows 100 views
“Cafes” category shows 100 views
“Vegan” category shows 100 views
Total category views: 300
This is by design. Category views tell you how much engagement each category is generating across all its listings, which is more useful than simply counting archive page visits.
